The Dunts // Sneaky Pete's // 23rd May

Updated: Oct 14, 2018

Continuing their rapid rise, The Dunts prove why they're a band ready to explode. Gathering a fair-sized early crowd, The Morning Retakes, kicked off the night with their indie, dreamy Rock ‘n’ Roll vibes. They immediately caught our attention with impressive stage presence to match the tight riffs on offer. With such tracks as Neon lights and Ain’t You Been Told? they will surely go from strength to strength this year.

Pleasure Heads, hailing from the fine town of Falkirk (hometown), continue to impress with every show. Despite only watching PH at Stag and Dagger a mere three weeks ago, you can see how they continue to learn with every show and hone their live set. None-more-so than on Concrete Lips, oozing with punk attitude and ferocious vocals to match. Sneakys went off. Latest single Middle Man, is a slightly more controlled track with a fuzzy pop feel, one to be enjoyed in the sun during festival season. Glasgow’s new favourite sons, The Dunts, stormed through their short but impressive set. It’s rare for a band in their infancy to have such a tight live show, the busy calendar is clearly paying off. Highlights included the fuzzy punk/pop Dimtri and politically driven Coalition of Chaos, but it was live favourite Tommy, who stole the show. With his guitar put to one side, we get up close and personal with lead singer, Rab Smith, as he weaves his way through the Sneaky Pete’s crowd. A frantic 2mins ensues. Bringing their set to a close with latest single, Birds and the Beez, proves they are more than just a 2mins “council punk”, showcasing their depth, varied vocals and drummer Kyle’s ability to set the pace. A band packed with attitude and energy who must be witnessed live.
