Das Plastixx - Don't be Surprised

It's been a busy year for Glasgow's Das Plastixx, with a debut Button Up EP, a follow up single and of course the relentless gigging. Not content with that, we've recently been treated to another release, Don’t Be Surprised...which might just be their best yet.

As the track kicks off we get the immediate sense that the 4-piece have a new found urgency, there's a relentless, steady pounding of drums which sets the tone. It's dark, it's distorted, it's heavy, everything we've come to expect from them, only this time with an bigger, anthemic feel. The song continues in this vain, teetering on the edge, you feel like at any minute everything could topple - it's this unknown which grabs your attention and hooks you in.

Recorded with Darryll McFadyen at the renowned Gorbals Sound Studios, together they manage to retain much of what we love about Das Plastixx, while adding a new punk dimension we've yet to hear.

If Don't Be Surprised, is a sign of things to come - then the next EP can't come soon enough.
