It’s been a year of discovery for Dunfermline's Amy Lou, there's been both line-up and name changes, but as the year draws to a close we get a glimpse in to what the future holds - a future as bright as a bottle of Irn-Bru!
Following in the footsteps of the playful ‘Fiat Five Hunner’, Amy Lou’s new release ‘Addiction’ proves she has much more to give - it’s a real statement of intent.
Recorded in Fife's Eggman Studios, ‘Addiction’ exposes a different side of Amy Lou, yes there’s still the power chords, soaring vocals, but the more intricate production gives an altogether different feel to previous singles.
The gentle, dreamlike intro lulls you in, with drums pounding like a beating heart, which give way to a glorious melody and riffs which evoke a mid-80s Robert Smith.
The track - written and produced with her musical co-writer and drummer Joe Kane - very much wears it’s heart on it’s sleeve, no pretence here - this is a love song, specifically that sense of excitement and the care-free feeling when falling in love...I guess there are worse addictions to have for an indie-rock band!
It won't be long until a wider audience knows exactly who the F*uck Amy Lou is!
