MM | NEW MUSIC WEEKLY 06

Updated: Apr 12, 2019

Every week we are treated to some incredible singles from across Scotland and this week is no different. All recently released through either local indie labels or by the bands themselves, the DIY scene up here is on fire!

Victoria's Flight - Paradise

When: 31st March

The first of three planned releases wrapped around a Summer of love and loss is one of sheer excitement and anticipation. You can almost feel the flutter of butterflies as the warm off-beat indie melodies drift you away to a white sand beach. Influences shine through from the likes of Sea Girls and Bombay Bicycle Club which makes for an engaging listen. Nailed on Summer favourite.

Two Tone Television - The Heavy

When: 15th March

Two Tone Television release their first single of 2019, The Heavy, proving once again why they are often cited as big influencers amongst the current crop of indie-punk bands. Their careful blend of aggressive yet melodic sound is something unlike anything else currently out there!

OK Button - Grenade

Released: 5th April

This gorgeous, yet heartbreaking release from Glasgow-based trio OK Button not only sees them continue to build upon a successful 2018 but also take a massive leap into a new musical sphere with a more atmospheric, electronic feel. Vocalist Amber Wilson turns in a spell-binding performance, comparable to that of Elena Tonra from 'Daughter'. With a combined total of over 500k streams on Spotify, we expect this to be another playlist favourite. It’s already on ours!

Chuchoter - U Can Find

Released: 5th April

Edinburgh’s electronic-duo Chuchoter first release of 2019 is a no-nonsense whirlwind of electronic beats and soaring vocals. Emily & Owen are back with attitude and a punchier sound made for smoke drenched clubs. Catch them this Friday as part of Wide Days Showcase at La Belle Angele - Tickets

Refuge Island - Fighting in the Disco

Released: 29th March

More frantic, fearless punk from these Ayrshire tearaways. After a recent string of chaotic Glasgow gigs at the infamous Priory, they are fast becoming the ones to watch amongst the scene. Check out the excellent video below, filmed by Daniel Blake!

Vandal Palace - Come Back Down

Released: 29th March

Every cloud has a silver lining, which in this case are Vandal Palace as we see a couple members from lost indie favourites Lost in Vancouver come together with a fresh approach. The shackles are off with this debut single, as the catchy hooks grab hold from the get-go! Encouraging start from the newly formed quartet.

We’ve added all six and more to our Mockit Music Spotify playlist, it’s updated weekly; Follow and never miss out on the best new music!
