MM | NEW MUSIC WEEKLY 10

Updated: May 30, 2019

We've hit double figures! who'd have thought it. In this edition we've got some rip-roaring indie/punk action for you! Remember, you can catch them all on our regularly updated Spotify playlist!

The Snuts - All Your Friends

Released: 23rd May

The buzz surrounding the West Lothian 4-piece is unavoidable, and with good reason, you only have to glance at social media to see what a storm they’re kicking up. It's becoming more and more apparent that after years of hard-work The Snuts are band with substance and genuine talent who challenge themselves with every release. Though-out latest single ‘All Your Friends’ we see a different side, with it’s Arcitc Monkey’s Humbug-era feel and frontman Jack Cochrane’s dynamic vocal performance. Released on Parlophone Records, The Snuts are now mixing it in the big league and at the forefront of a new indie-rock generation…oh, and that bass line is pure filth.

Luna The Professor - Dreamers

Released: 24th May

Hot on the heels of debut release ‘You’ Luna are back with their storming indie anthem ‘Dreamers’. The Wishaw 4-piece have already built up strong following after a string of sold out gigs across the major venues such as King Tuts and Sneaky Pete’s. The ambitious ‘Dreamers’ is a single from a band brimming with confidence and charm, while harnessing the energy of early Catfish tracks.

The Vegan Leather - French Exit

Released: 24th May

It’s hard to believe it’s been over a year since previous single ‘I Take American’ dropped and while it seems The VL may have been quiet on stage, behind the curtain it was a different story, they’ve been hitting the recording studio hard and are now armed with a bunch of new tracks, first of which is ‘French Exit’. Another off-beat pop track full of witty lyricism and in contrast to the title, it makes you want to grab everyone and party all night long.

The Vanities - 38’s

Released: 19th April

After recently winning the chance the play at a Castle (surely a dream for every band…?) with the likes of Lucia and Dream Wife, it's clear The Vanities have a passionate fanbase who back their boys at every turn, and it looks to be paying off. Latest single '38's' sees the quartet channel the raucous sound of early Libertines, matched with riffs like The Hives fuelled on Buckfast. It all makes for an engaging listen and their strongest track to date.

Note: in case of emergencies, always make your vodka a double.

The Bright Skies - Dispute (On Hold)

Released: 26th April

One of Edinburgh’s favourite indie outfits The Bright Skies return with their latest single ‘Dispute (On Hold)’ - a track which would send a Propaganda crowd wild. Sharp Guitars, soaring choruses and more personal lyrics sang with conviction by frontman Liam McLennan. They hit up Sneaky Pete’s on July 25th with fellow indie pals The Capollos, grab tickets while you can!
