100 Fables.
First up were 100 Fables, a Glaswegian New Wave outfit who made the journey along the M8 to kick off their own Spring Tour. From the outset is was clear those who came down earlier were in for a treat, with lead vocalist Lyndsey Liora’s energy and voice stealing the show. None more so than on latest single Joy, a track oozing with electronic beats, pounding drums and distortion.
They continue to rattle through tracks from their impressive debut EP We Are Electric Girls and Boys, with perhaps the highlight Untold - which wouldn’t look out-of-place on the Drive soundtrack - a new release hinting a slight change in tone and songwriting for the young group. It’s a cracking tune and one which will surely be heard across festivals this summer.
Since forming roughly 2 and a half years ago, it’s evident they’re developing into a tight live outfit, and with future gigs on the horizon I can see 100 Fables going from strength to strength. They finish with the excellent Wake Up, a track with an infectious 80s synth/pop feel to it, that by the end you can’t help but test out your own vocal chords and join in. With the Glasgow scene currently buzzing with new and exciting bands, 100 Fables' originality should keep them ahead of the pack.

Lost in Vancouver.
Following 100 Fables were local favourites Lost in Vancouver(LIV), back at Sneakys following their supporting slot with The Sheafs. With a packed crowd and a rather fetching cowboy fringe jacket, they got down to business. Belting out catchy indie tracks, such as Juliet, striking the balance between a welcomed nod to the mid/late-00’s while still sounding completely fresh.
The LIV boys are beginning to make Sneaky Pete’s feel like home, and it shows, they look comfortable and commanding throughout. With latest single Rose in Retrospect, LIV prove they are more than just an indie band, with searing guitar solos and harmonising vocals. In their penultimate track Taxi - they have a crowd favourite, one which i’m sure will leave a mark on those unaware of LIV before tonight. Finished by thanking Glass Caves and the promoters for having them along, but judging by tonight, it won’t be long until they make that step to headliner.
Listen: Taxi, Rose in Retrospect and Robyn
Glass Caves.
Glass Caves arrive in Edinburgh midway through a UK tour in support of their latest EP I do. They don’t mess around and jump straight into Do You Have a Name? An earlier track which has been included on this EP. It's a strong opener to get the close to capacity crowd in the mood. Later in the set they treat us to Alive, a track which turns out was written on one of their trips to Edinburgh. The song slowly builds up to one the most anthemic chorus I've heard in a while, pushing lead singer Matt’s vocals to the limit.

But this show was all about the new EP, all tracks were included in the set, in particular Bad Liar - It’s a banger. With a whiff of Blossoms about it, it’s sure to be a Mockit Music favourite this summer. They sprinkled a couple new tracks throughout the set (one of which is due early June) so watch this space...
The night comes to an end with last years Swim, a song which seems to be about grabbing life with both hands and taking chances. Last year they were the band “busking for a living”, hopefully this year they’ll be able to lock their hats and CD stands away, with larger venues no doubt on the cards.
Listen: Alive, Do You Have a Name?, Be Together and Bad Liar
